John Westwood died from wounds on 23rd November, 1914, after having been brought back to the United Kingdom but as yet, there is no information, as to when and where he was wounded. The 2nd Highland Light Infantry battalion was part of 5 Brigade, 2nd Division that had arrived in France at the beginning of the war and had been involved in much of the fighting since then.
